Menzshed Manawatu has had a long term relationship with the local toy library. This began about 10 years ago when we provided assistance to remove and reassemble shelving and storage for them when they moved into the current location. It has become an almost symbiotic relationship where the toy library relies on support in terms of backup for repairs and maintenance of the inventory, and the menzshed needs to find an ongoing stream of tasks to occupy the membership.
The menzshed toy library coordinator of the operation, Arie Dekker,. calls into the library almost weekly and picks up any toys needing repair. These are done on shed days then returned to the library and the next batch picked up. This service is free to the library, although if parts are needed which are not in stock, are reimbursed to the shed.
